Henry Logan built this spacious, two-story, Federal-style brick home in 1843. His friend and neighbor, Arthur I. Boreman, who lived across the street, became the first governor of West Virginia in 1863. During the Civil War, Logan allowed the Union army to use his house as a military hospital until the war ended in 1865. This was one of only five Union Army hospitals in operation during the war, and is the only one standing today. Following the war, the Logan family returned to the house and lived there until 1921, when it became an oil and gas business office.
Dr. R.C. Robinson purchased this in 1951 for use as his eye care office, and in 1976, Dr. Douglas L. Conrath became the owner and established Vision Care Associates Incorporated. In 2005 Dr. Scott and Vicki Lauer became the owners of Vision Care Associates.
