The Latest in Technology, With a Personal Touch
As part of our commitment to our patients, we work to provide you with the latest and most advanced optometric technology. At Vision Care Associates, we offer the advanced screenings and eye exams you won’t find anywhere else.
Optomap Image Screenings
This type of screening is used to detect eye disease and other health issues by photographing the retina. For many patients, it helps us examine the back of their eyes without the need for dilation. This screening option is popular with many patients because it allows us to capture digital images of up to 85% of the retina; these images can then be added to your permanent eye medical record. These photos can be used to detect any changes that have occurred in the back of the eye. Any subtle changes can help detect a number of life-threatening diseases and conditions. This includes cardiovascular disease, stroke and cancer, as well as diseases specific to the eye.
If there are findings that need to be reviewed and compared at a later date, we will take photographs of the front and/or inside of the eyes.
A refraction test is completed as part of a routine eye exam and is used to calculate the best prescription for you. We use both automated and doctor-controlled instruments, in addition to patient-directed methods. This test is used to diagnose a range of conditions including astigmatism, hyperopia (farsightedness), myopia (nearsightedness) and presbyopia.
Visual Fields Testing
A visual fields test is used to detect blind spots. A blind spot can be a sign of eye disease as well as an obstruction in the brain. This test measures horizontal and vertical range of your vision, as well as your sensitivity. The shape and size of blind spots offer important clues about the visual structures of your brain, the optic nerve, and your eye health.
